Dr. Rafael Lachner Chacón, 1935

At Lachner Dental, three generations dedicated to oral health care have forged a history of service, excellence, and professional success for over 80 years.

1934

In 1934, after completing his studies in Germany, Dr. Rafael Lachner Chacón returns to Costa Rica. His father, Dr. Vicente Lachner, director of the Max Peralta Hospital in Cartago CR, called him to take charge, pro-bono, of the Hospital´s Department of Dentistry.
1935

Subsequently, Dr. Rafael Lachner Chacón established his private practice in Cartago in 1935. He practiced successfully until the clinic was destroyed by a fire during the Costa Rican revolution of 1948.
1948

In 1948, Dr. Lachner Chacón then re-established his private practice in San Jose, Costa Rica. His practice flourished, he was named president of the Costa Rican Dental Association, and continued the practice of excellence until his retirement in 1995.
1971

In 1971, his son, Dr. Rafael A. Lachner joins the practice after completing his dental training at UCR and a Master of Science in Prosthodontics at the University of North Carolina.
1989

In 1989, after being a professor in the Department of Prosthodontics at the University of Costa Rica and founding member of the Costa Rican Academy of Prosthodontics, Dr. Rafael Alberto Lachner moved his private practice to a new location in Barrio Dent, the East of San Jose.
2005

The third generation joins in 2005 when Dr. Erick Lachner complete his dental training at the University of Costa Rica and after 2 years of practice, he parted abroad to continue his postgraduate studies in the United States.
2010

Dr. Erick Lachner completed a 3 year residency training program in Prosthodontics and a Master's degree in Oral Biology at Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, Texas, USA.
2012

In 2012 he returned to Costa Rica and re-joined Lachner Dental after completing a 2 year implant fellowship in the Center for Maxillofacial Prosthodontics, Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Baylor College of Dentistry.
2013

In 2013, Lachner Dental opens its doors in a second location in the west of San Jose, joining Alpha Dental Group in Plaza Tempo, Escazú.
